Some civil legal issues include:

- civil rights
- relief from abuse
- public benefits
- bankruptcy, and
- problems with landlords or creditors.
If you are facing criminal charges, we cannot help you. You can:
- Visit the Vermont Defender General website and call the office that is closest to you.
- Contact the Vermont Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service to see if they can help.
If you have a traffic violation, we cannot help you. You can contact the Vermont Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service.
If you are a victim of a crime you can contact the police. If you have a legal problem due to being a victim of a crime or abuse, you can contact us at Legal Services Vermont. We can represent victims of crime or abuse in criminal cases and Relief from Abuse cases.
