Volunteer Spotlight: Lou Mattar

Lou Mattar is a graduate of SUNY Fredonia and Stetson University College of Law. Lou was admitted to practice in 2022 and has since been admitted to the bar in four states. They are currently an attorney at William Mattar, P.C. in New York. Outside of the office, Lou enjoys hiking and traveling with their wife and family, reading, and watching live music with friends.

We asked Lou to share about their volunteer experience at LSV: “As an attorney who is new to the Vermont Bar, working with Legal Services Vermont has been a big help as I learn the Vermont way of practice and work to meet my first-year requirements for licensure. Pro bono work has been a great way to meet the first-year requirements because it has given me the chance to give back to Vermonters in need, learn new skills, interact with other attorneys, and get valuable feedback on my work as I continue to hone my practice.

I encourage others who have been thinking about becoming a volunteer to reach out to learn what you can do to help. The team at LSV works hard to set volunteers up for success and provide the tools you need to succeed.”
